He was truly a facinating character.
TSorensenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12208153011927807857noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2746502363551524682.post-55067232249471207862014-11-19T18:20:35.216+02:002014-11-19T18:20:35.216+02:00Isn't it amazing to think that Wilder came out...Isn't it amazing to think that Wilder came out with both this and Sunset Blvd in one year? And he wrote them both too! In his second language! That man had vision and skill and guts enough to carry it out.TSorensenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12208153011927807857noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2746502363551524682.post-89579299611289677032014-11-19T02:50:08.298+02:002014-11-19T02:50:08.298+02:00I agree with Steve - had I not been doing the list...I agree with Steve - had I not been doing the list I may never have seen this film. I may have vaguely heard of it, but knew nothing about it before I watched it. It was one of the better discoveries I had. The 1950s have been a heck of a decade so far, haven't they?

There's a quote that I've seen attributed to Stalin. I don't know if he actually said it or not. It is "One person dying is a tragedy; a million people dying is a statistic."Chip Laryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00787403805554027107noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2746502363551524682.post-28657444957997877272014-11-18T22:41:53.064+02:002014-11-18T22:41:53.064+02:00You're right that it hasn't gotten old. In fact, I would venture to say that it's a film that is more relevant every year.

This is another film that makes me love Billy Wilder more and more. Movies like this one are why I did the 1001 Movies list, because I might have otherwise missed it.SJHoneywellhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13550007053995112090noreply@blogger.com
