Also Cagney hardly surprised anybody when he played an awesome gangster. The man can dance and sing too. Glad to see he won an Oscar, but a little odd he didn't take home an Academy Award for one of his gangster roles. When this came on, I would watch it over and over again. I have a real soft spot in my heart for it. At that age, the patriotism wasn't grating at all.

I love Jimmy Cagney. I'm not rabid about it like her!

Nice review. I tend to prefer my Cagney singing and dancing rather than firing a gun.

"Over There" is a dangerous song for me, as it gets stuck in my head VERY easily. siochembiohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11487373396181856763noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2746502363551524682.post-83470935264642443972013-05-16T15:47:31.788+03:002013-05-16T15:47:31.788+03:00This isn't my favorite musical, but it has not...This isn't my favorite musical, but it has nothing to do with it being a musical. It's all about the jingoism of the film. It's so over the top that I start to tune out. The saving grace of the film--the reason I don't hate it--is Cagney, who is totally worth watching. I love the impromptu dance down the steps at the end. SJHoneywellhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13550007053995112090noreply@blogger.com
