Somehow I have a hard time seing McCarthy having a problem with this movie. As a criticism of the hearings it is very subtle.
TSorensenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12208153011927807857noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2746502363551524682.post-16120981036687745442015-03-04T19:53:07.373+02:002015-03-04T19:53:07.373+02:00As the others said, this is one of my favorite wes...As the others said, this is one of my favorite westerns. Watch for a parallel between this and Seven Samurai when you watch it.

And people at the time also saw High Noon as an allegory for the McCarthy hearings that were going on. He was a U.S. Senator who saw communists under every rock in Hollywood and persecuted many people before he was finally stopped. Some Hollywood people stood up to him...and were pretty much abandoned by all of their friends who feared McCarthy coming after them, too. Ever heard the term "blacklisted" in regards to Hollywood writers and directors? That comes from the McCarthy hearings.
Chip Laryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00787403805554027107noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2746502363551524682.post-11460891505598061372015-03-04T09:15:41.471+02:002015-03-04T09:15:41.471+02:00Yes, the real time part adds a lot of intensity to...Yes, the real time part adds a lot of intensity to the movie. We feel the slow, but unstoppable creep of the clock and it just gets more and more unbearable to watch a frustrated Kane. Excellent film making.
TSorensenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12208153011927807857noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2746502363551524682.post-83998267625096971962015-03-04T09:13:38.601+02:002015-03-04T09:13:38.601+02:00Thank you very much. I think it's great all the way around and I wouldn't change a frame of it. I love especially that it plays virtually in real time.SJHoneywellhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13550007053995112090noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2746502363551524682.post-7753329274614679272015-03-04T01:34:38.914+02:002015-03-04T01:34:38.914+02:00I love this movie and I loved your review.
