It is just so weird to see all those me twist their heads sore to gawk at THAT.
TSorensenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12208153011927807857noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2746502363551524682.post-33645523328129158762013-02-15T09:03:48.472+02:002013-02-15T09:03:48.472+02:00I do get that such lines a provocative and sassy a...I do get that such lines a provocative and sassy and I am sure the original script would have been deliciously outragous. I just wanted a different actor. As it is, even with this limited dialogue it comes through as cheap and crude.TSorensenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12208153011927807857noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2746502363551524682.post-74928371688022527812013-02-14T22:54:54.146+02:002013-02-14T22:54:54.146+02:00A big fat ditto on what you said. I mean, I *like* it, I guess, in that it's not a horrible film and it's kind of fun to watch, but it's not compelling, and I don't know that I would ever be in a situation where I would think "OMG I HAVE TO WATCH SHE DONE HIM WRONG!!!!!!!!!"

I had never thought about it, but you're totally right - cast someone else as Mae West's Lou. Yes, I totally get that she wrote it herself, as you say, but you're so right - Barbara Stanwyck would have handled the material soooooooooooooo much better.siochembiohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11487373396181856763noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2746502363551524682.post-86066945795865871022013-02-14T17:26:39.127+02:002013-02-14T17:26:39.127+02:00I saw this years ago and thought it was just okay....I saw this years ago and thought it was just okay. I remember being surprised Grant was in it, since I had only ever heard about West.

You're right that this movie was a vehicle for her to move her stage act into movies, but she had to censor so much stuff that people said it was a pale imitation of her show. A few lines like "no finer woman ever walked the streets" and "why don't you come up some time and see me" survived, but that was about it.Chip Laryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00787403805554027107noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2746502363551524682.post-68591196572638547162013-02-14T13:47:10.807+02:002013-02-14T13:47:10.807+02:00I am very happy that I am not alone here, that may...I am very happy that I am not alone here, that maybe I just could not see her brilliance.
TSorensenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12208153011927807857noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2746502363551524682.post-20382405449344026252013-02-14T01:26:20.232+02:002013-02-14T01:26:20.232+02:00Agreed, agreed, agreed. Except for launching Cary Grant's career, this one is a big "so what."

And I agree that Mae West came off less captivating and more creepy.SJHoneywellhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13550007053995112090noreply@blogger.com
