Cocteau was an artistic descendant of Melies and played with magic camera tricks and illusions the same way he did.TSorensenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12208153011927807857noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2746502363551524682.post-3926289428275556042014-02-24T05:34:07.269+02:002014-02-24T05:34:07.269+02:00I think you're supposed to prefer the beast, a...I think you're supposed to prefer the beast, and this beast is easy to prefer.

What I love most about this is the sense of magic that runs through it. Sure, it's obvious how all of the "magic" in the castle is done, but it's so unusually that I find it charming and lovely.SJHoneywellhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13550007053995112090noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2746502363551524682.post-53360550657732251682014-02-23T20:26:56.537+02:002014-02-23T20:26:56.537+02:00That is not a bad shot. But it does not explain the roles of the girl's family, nor why Avenant turns into a beast. It could be there are actually several stories intertwined here.
TSorensenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12208153011927807857noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2746502363551524682.post-90787874441687044292014-02-23T19:17:48.040+02:002014-02-23T19:17:48.040+02:00Great review! She is in general afraid of becoming a woman and leaving her family. The story is how she comes to love and trust the scary, scary beast and can at last find happiness. Admittedly, this does not explain why Avenant has to be such a jerk.marie_dresslerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06334550550983418668noreply@blogger.com
