Then they seem clever and the rest of us can feel stupid for not getting it.
TSorensenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12208153011927807857noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2746502363551524682.post-28481924336494481522013-12-14T04:02:40.789+02:002013-12-14T04:02:40.789+02:00It's simple: this is a pointless film, so some...It's simple: this is a pointless film, so some recognizable names have picked it as a "favorite" film in order to appear to be cool, or knowledgable, or trend setters, and then the herd of film critics follows them. To me this is another case of The Emperor's New Clothes.Chip Laryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00787403805554027107noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2746502363551524682.post-5217231812007496092013-12-13T18:49:51.492+02:002013-12-13T18:49:51.492+02:00You would not be missing much. Your review makes me glad I have finished my 1931 viewing for now so I don't feel compelled to see it anytime soon.marie_dresslerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06334550550983418668noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2746502363551524682.post-2307144219946837242013-12-12T09:23:00.102+02:002013-12-12T09:23:00.102+02:00I remember I sneakpeaked your review when you post...I remember I sneakpeaked your review when you posted it, so I was biased against from the outset. I doubt that even in a most positive state of mind I would have liked this one. This may be the slowest and most obscure movie I ever saw.
TSorensenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12208153011927807857noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2746502363551524682.post-71422205904592256322013-12-11T23:53:28.900+02:002013-12-11T23:53:28.900+02:00I'm not a massive fan of art film in general, ...I'm not a massive fan of art film in general, but I did actually enjoy Meshes of the Afternoon...or at least I thought it was cool. Boy, did I hate this one! It was completely pointless and got to the point of angering me.

I agree on Gravity, too. A friend of mine called it a minimalist drama on a maximal stage.
