The lack of action is actually something I appreciate here. Modern sci-fi is so overloaded with action that the true value fades or disappear. Instead there is time for dialogue and a bit of philosophy.TSorensenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12208153011927807857noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2746502363551524682.post-5120256936002378462016-01-14T13:56:02.942+02:002016-01-14T13:56:02.942+02:00Agree the set pieces and special effects are impre...Agree the set pieces and special effects are impressive. I felt they could included more action scenes, but maybe the budget wasn't there. Yet as you mentioned there are some valuable, timeless messages to be found, that our worst enemy can be ourselves, that we shouldn’t try and be God, and that technology out-of-control is a threat. Forbidden Planet is certainly a strong sci-fi effort when compared to what else was being made during the 50s.Chrishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09395044055566348346noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2746502363551524682.post-20075624953866792512016-01-12T00:20:02.590+02:002016-01-12T00:20:02.590+02:00and that is exactly what a good science fiction mo...and that is exactly what a good science fiction movie should do. I like when sci-fi takes up classic stories, but here the story is good enough even without knowing the original.TSorensenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12208153011927807857noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2746502363551524682.post-49739446657533478052016-01-11T19:39:24.687+02:002016-01-11T19:39:24.687+02:00This is a very good movie because like The Matrix ...This is a very good movie because like The Matrix it functions on two levels. You can watch it simply for the adventure, thrills, and scares, but dig a little deeper and you've got all kinds of concepts such as the id, ego, and superego, as well as it being a version of a Shakespeare story.Chip Laryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00787403805554027107noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2746502363551524682.post-26435714951735032322016-01-11T17:46:25.119+02:002016-01-11T17:46:25.119+02:00This is a real classic.
