They made a pretty good early version of the opera, I think in the 80's with Placido Domingo. Not particularly looking forward to this one.marie_dresslerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06334550550983418668noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2746502363551524682.post-21819242238021899192015-09-08T16:47:04.714+03:002015-09-08T16:47:04.714+03:00I'm echoing Steve's comments. I'm not sure I would have recognized Dandridge's voice, but it was just weird to see Belafonte "singing" and it not sound like him.Chip Laryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00787403805554027107noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2746502363551524682.post-56415622670500127392015-09-08T15:58:17.764+03:002015-09-08T15:58:17.764+03:00Yes, I noticed that. According to Wikipedia neither Dandridge nor Belafonte could sing opera and so opera singers were found. the question here is who cooked up the ludicrous idea that it had to be opera? They should have taken the full step and adapted all the music to the very vibrant black music scene at the time. Now that would be a musical I would like to see!TSorensenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12208153011927807857noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2746502363551524682.post-52123233083217577462015-09-08T15:55:10.670+03:002015-09-08T15:55:10.670+03:00Then I will read your review and share the pain.

They make for a lot of drama in movies, but I still find them painful to watch.TSorensenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12208153011927807857noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2746502363551524682.post-12899594375836644032015-09-08T04:59:02.285+03:002015-09-08T04:59:02.285+03:00For me, the greatest sin of Carmen Jones is that w...For me, the greatest sin of Carmen Jones is that we have Dorothy Dandridge and Henry Belafonte in the main roles and they had their singing voices dubbed.
